Micro-plastics are the bigger pain in the environment for various reasons. We, the community, especially the students can play a crucial role to save the earth, animals and humans from dangerous effects of such pollutants.

A simple example is a used pen. These days, the habit of refilling the pens and re-using them is almost forgotten. Instead, parents buy new pens for their children and simply throw the old pen into the garbage. The used pen goes into the garbage in multiple pieces – refill, pen cap and sometime broken units are separated on its disposal. Just imagine a school with 500 children, each one using 10 pens in a year on an average, is generating 5000 used pens or 15000 micro-plastic pieces approximately. It is carelessly thrown which ultimately mixed in the soil, wetlands, river and ocean. It remains there for hundreds of years causing damage to the environment and living creatures.

Students can take up this issue, brainstorm among themselves, and solve the problem with assistance from teachers and mentors. UltaBhonpu encourage such projects as a learning tool in the schools. Benefits are plenty!
